About

My name is Kassy Newman and I live in Harrisonburg, VA. While residing in the Shenandoah Valley, I have been inspired by the colors in nature, the landscapes, and the friendly community of people that live here. I create functional, food-safe pieces that are meant to be used everyday.

The physicality of working with clay every day is grounding for me. Getting covered in clay and building this business with my hands not only feeds my soul, but it also humbles me. I’m grateful to be able to share my art and I hope that my work helps build a connection through the environment and community that I have grown to love and cherish.

I studied and graduated with a degree in Art at Bridgewater College in 2011 and have been working intensely at the potter’s wheel since 2016. At the start of 2018, I started teaching beginner pottery at the Harrisonburg Community Center, where classes are offered year-round.

My long-term goal is to own and operate a ceramics teaching studio and gallery (hopefully in Harrisonburg, VA). As I continue to share my passion for ceramics, I hope to inspire others and share the therapeutic benefits of turning a chunk of clay into a finished piece of art.

My name is Kassy and I live in Harrisonburg, VA. I work out of what used to be our dining room, with a small kiln shed built right outside of our home. My husband, Ryan, has taken on a new role with KNC- helping with production, photo, video, and social media. We welcomed our daughter, Wilder Sevi, in December of 2021. Ryan and I are enjoying our time as stay at home working parents.

I update my web shop periodically with small batches of work. If you currently don’t see any pottery for sale, make sure that you subscribe to my mailing list or follow me on instagram for updates of when I’ll be posting new work.

We moved my studio to our home in 2020 when Larkin Arts sadly shut it’s doors because of the pandemic. I used to teach beginner ceramics courses both there and at the Harrisonburg Community Center, but both programs had to stop because of the pandemic. I don’t have plans to teach again as I focus on this new chapter of my life as a parent.

I’m grateful to be able to share my art and I hope that my work helps build a connection through the environment and community that I have grown to love and cherish.
